Alice – Version 4.0.0 EN (Auto-Dim & UI Upgrade)
With Version 4.0.0, Alice receives an update you’ll notice immediately in everyday use:
intelligent display behavior with auto-dimming and wake functionality – plus a visibly cleaner and calmer UI.
All core features you already know (Bluetooth, audio engine, log/archive) remain unchanged and reliable.
Version 4 focuses on comfort, readability, and improved battery efficiency.
Why this update matters:
Many users run Alice for longer sessions. The display should stay easy on the eyes, not overly bright –
yet be instantly ready the moment you interact with the device again.
With Version 4.0.0, you get:
- automatic display dimming during inactivity,
- instant wake-up via touch or movement,
- a clearer, more visible status indicator (red/yellow/green traffic light is now larger),
- and extended battery life thanks to reduced display power consumption.
Highlights at a glance:
Auto-Dim (after inactivity)
- After a short period without interaction, Alice automatically dims the display.
- This reduces glare, especially in dark or low-light environments.
Extended battery life
- Because the display is one of the biggest power consumers,
automatic dimming noticeably increases average runtime.
Wake on Touch
- A single tap is enough to restore full display brightness instantly.
- No confirmation needed – just continue using Alice naturally.
Wake on Movement
- Movement also wakes the display.
- Ideal when picking up or repositioning the device.
Larger traffic light indicator (Red / Yellow / Green)
- The status “traffic light” is now displayed larger.
- This makes the current operating state easier and faster to recognize, even from a distance.
Calmer UI (reduced redraw flicker)
- In archive views, confirmation overlays (e.g. delete prompts), and Bluetooth menus,
screen updates are now handled more selectively.
- Result: less visual flicker and a more stable overall appearance.
What changes in everyday use:
More comfortable for long sessions
You can let Alice run for extended periods without the display constantly shining at full brightness.
As soon as you interact, everything is immediately bright and clear again.
Improved readability
Status indicators and menus feel calmer, clearer, and easier to read at a glance.
Longer operating time
Depending on usage and brightness settings, auto-dim provides a noticeable gain in battery life,
since the display draws significantly less power while dimmed.
Update & compatibility:
- The log/archive system from Version 3.0.0 remains fully intact.
- Bluetooth functionality and the audio engine are unchanged.
- The update process stays the same (Bluetooth update with signature verification).
