Restores your Alice 2 to factory settings (original firmware version 1).

Alice 2 – Firmware Update (Windows)

Important

The update is carried out at your own risk. If the connection is interrupted during the update (e.g. cable unplugged, power failure), the device may become unusable and must be sent in for inspection/repair.

What you need

1. Update tool: AliceUpdate.exe – download it once from our download page and, for example, place it on your desktop.
   You can keep this tool for future updates.

2. Update file: update.pkg – you will receive a new version of this file for each update from our Alice 2 update page.
   It can be stored in your Downloads folder or in any other location.

Preparation

1. Disable Bluetooth on your Windows PC:
   Settings → Bluetooth & devices → switch Bluetooth off.

2. Close all serial programs, e.g. Arduino Serial Monitor or terminal apps.

3. Leave Alice switched off.

Procedure

1. Start AliceUpdate.exe (double-click). The interface will open.

2. Click Browse and select the file update.pkg.
   Example path: C:\Users\YourName\Downloads\update.pkg

   Click Start.
   The updater checks the file and will wait for the device if necessary.

3. Connect Alice without switching it on:
   First plug the USB cable into Alice, then plug the PC side of the USB cable into your computer.

   Do not disconnect anything during the update!

4. Wait until the message OK or Update successful appears.

Finishing

Press Enter, unplug the USB cable, then switch Alice on with the power button (press for about 2 seconds).

Notes

– The update tool AliceUpdate.exe remains on your desktop for future updates. Do not delete it.
– The update.pkg file belongs to the respective update. You can keep this file after the update is finished or delete it.
– In case of problems: try a different USB port, check the USB data cable, make sure Bluetooth is really switched off and that no serial software is running.

🔧 Note on Alice 2 updates

All updates are fundamentally carried out at your own risk.

If a device becomes non-functional as a result of an incorrectly performed update (e.g. aborted update, wrong cables, power interruption, improper handling) and has to be sent to us, the following applies:

• The shipping costs for sending the device to us and for return shipping must be covered in full by the customer.

• A flat repair fee of €35 will be charged for restoration/repair.

• An additional flat fee of €15 will be charged for repackaging and return shipping.

• ​

Total amount for restoring a device after a faulty update: €50.

Please therefore perform updates carefully and only under the specified conditions.
