​Alice 2 – Firmware Update (Windows)

System: Windows 10/11

Important
The update is performed at your own risk. If the connection is interrupted during the update (e.g. unplugging cable, power outage), the device may become unusable and must be sent in for inspection/repair.

What You Need

Update Tool: AliceUpdate.exe – download once from our download page and place it, for example, on your desktop.
You can keep this tool for future updates.

Update File: update.pkg – this file is provided with each new version via our Alice 2 Update page.
It may be located in your Downloads folder or saved anywhere else.

Preparation

Disable Bluetooth on your Windows PC:
Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Turn off Bluetooth

Close all serial applications, e.g. Arduino Serial Monitor or terminal apps.

Keep the Alice device turned off.

Procedure

Launch AliceUpdate.exe (double-click). The interface will open.

Click Browse and select the update.pkg file.
Example path: C:\Users\YourName\Downloads\update.pkg

Click Start. The updater checks the file and waits for the device.

Connect Alice without turning it on:
First plug the USB cable into Alice, then plug the other end into the PC.
Do not disconnect anything during the update!

Wait until the message “OK” or “Update successful” appears.

Finishing Up

Press Enter, unplug the USB cable, and turn on Alice by holding the power button for about 2 seconds.

Notes

– Keep the AliceUpdate.exe tool on your desktop for future updates. Do not delete it.
– The update.pkg is version-specific. You may keep or delete it after updating.
– If problems occur:

Try a different USB port

Check that a proper USB data cable is used

Ensure Bluetooth is disabled

Confirm that no serial software is running

🔧 Note on Alice 2 Updates

All updates are carried out strictly at your own risk.

If the device becomes non-functional due to an improperly executed update (e.g. interruption, wrong cable, power failure, improper handling) and must be returned to us, the following applies:

Shipping costs for both directions must be paid entirely by the customer.

A flat repair fee of €35 is charged for recovery or repair.

An additional packaging and return fee of €15 applies.

Total cost for recovery after a failed update: €50

Please only perform updates under the recommended conditions and with great care.
